This IS Happening!!!
A while back, during Spring Training, I wrote a post about Will Ferrell playing for 10 different teams(all 9 positions) in one day. I had high hopes back then that Topps would document the feat with some cardboard at some point this season. It looks like my hopes will be realized next month when Topps Archives is released! For more details, click here. Here are some images that I've swiped from the internet.
Apparently, there will be 100 total autographed cards broken down between the 10 teams. So, each team's auto card will be serial numbered /10. Fortunately for those of us who aren't lucky or rich enough to own an autographed copy, there will also be a 10 card unsigned insert set to chase. I don't know about anyone else, but I can't wait to complete this set!

That's pretty cool - I do enjoy Topps Archives - It would be fun to pull something like that in a pack.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the possibility has me actually thinking about buying a hobby box instead of just retail for the first time.
DeleteI am not looking forward to this. These will drive the price of boxes way up like the Charlie Sheen autos did in last year's set. It makes it really difficult for people who enjoy building the set to complete their checklists at a reasonable price.
ReplyDeleteI understand your point. It seems that with the frenzy around busting product searching for the autos, there should be a good number of folks trying to unload the 'commons' from the set at shows or online though. Was that not the case for last year's set?
DeleteI don't buy much modern wax so if it drives up the price it doesn't bug me. I think it's a cool concept and am definitely looking forward to getting my hands on some of these! Had no idea they were producing them so thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteYes!!!
ReplyDeleteWill he have some "game-used relics" (not from any particular game or day or event) that appear in Five-Star?
ReplyDeleteI kid.
