Not What I Had Planned - Ripping Heritage Edition

Once again, this is not the post I had originally intended. However, yesterday my Facebook feed was inundated with guys from my local collecting group that were busting boxes of Heritage. I had told myself I wasn't going to fall into the trap and start busting Heritage this year and had done well by not buying a box from Jimmy of Big D's(former best LCS in my area). I bought my jumbo box of series one from him and was strong enough not to pull the trigger on a box of Heritage. When I started seeing the hits trickle in, I couldn't take it. I took my daughter to a playground in Danville and made a side trip to B&D Sports Cards. I was good, I only picked two packs from the freshly delivered/opened box.

I thought the pack price was a bit much, but I had to quench that pack busting thirst.

The base cards are nice enough, typical Heritage stuff. I didn't pull any color swaps, SPs, gum stains, or Chromes...but I didn't do too bad.

This was sitting in the middle of one pack. Not a guy or team I collect, but it's always awesome to pull an auto from Heritage! What about the other pack?

This is purported to be the SSP rookie action variation which are currently being reported as falling somewhere in the range of 2-3 per case! Not a bad pull and for a split second. I contemplated putting it up for sale on eBay, but I have decided it will reside in my collection as probably the best Schwarber RC I will have. Glad I went to grab those packs, but I'm afraid that the flood gates will really open up once I start seeing these packs at the local Target(s). Thanks for reading! Hopefully I'll be back to the regularly planned post tomorrow.

  1. For a spur of the moment purchase, that's really good. As for the pack price you mentioned, most of the places I've seen online are selling it for about $3.50 a pack. Last year, the three LCS's in my area ranged from about $3.49 - $3.99 so I'd say that's about the standard price.

  9. I've never had a ton of luck with Heritage. I usually just try and cherry pick the Buccos I like. Great box!

  11. I haven't bought any Heritage packs but I did buy a pre sale hand collated set for 36.00 shipped. No short prints of course. Now just looking for the five Redsox sp which the same guy will hopefully pull for me. Wouldn't usually buy a set but the 67 set is one I've been working on and thought this might look nice along with it

  12. They were still in a box at my store, just had to ask an employee... Go figure the first one I found was the one that had that task!
