This Just In!

This morning, I was in the middle of composing the post that I intended for today when I happened to see a picture pop up in my Facebook feed. I immediately stopped what I was doing and started researching. That card has immediately jumped to the top of my list of newly released cards to track down. Okay, so I don't have a formal list like that, but the point is, I must find a copy of this card! It hails from the 2016 Donruss product which is scheduled for release today and it is one of the most unique and iconic relic cards I've seen in recent memory:

This bad boy is currently on eBay(with a really high bid already and 4+ days to go before closing). Yeah, I know that mascot relic cards have been done before, but this guy is pretty much the father of all mascots. Like many of you, I have enjoyed collecting the various early '80's Donruss issues featuring The San Diego Chicken and I have fond memories of watching him on The Baseball Bunch with Johnny Bench and Tommy Lasorda when I was younger. I'm also a fan of any unique relic materials since the standard bat chips and jersey swatches often feel stale. This is a perfect match of those two worlds for me. So, today my quest to procure one of these begins. Tomorrow I can resume with my regularly planned posts. Are any of you as excited about this card as I am? Thanks for reading!

  2. I saw that as well, if I find one for cheap, I'll pick it up. Not gonna lie, it would be a pretty awesome card to have.

  4. I saw it on ebay too, after reading the Panini post. Oh my gosh, I MUST have one! I have a feeling this and the auto Chicken will be some of the best pulls from 2016 Donruss.

  5. I love mascot cards, and that Chicken one might be the best yet. My son actually pulled a signed Teddy Roosevelt Nationals mascot card last year from an Opening Day. He's 7, so it's the pride of his collection.
